SOS Children's Villages

SOS Children's Villages is the largest orphan and abandoned children's charity in the world. They provide a home for more than 78,000 children in 500 unique Children's Villages in 124 countries.

SOS' sponsors and donors help children whose parents are not there for them. They may be AIDS orphans, street children, child soldiers or children orphaned by war, poverty or natural disasters. The children are given a mother and a family in a home within an SOS Children's Village. Donations pay to build the Villages and run them until child sponsors cover the running costs. Where family life is at risk (for example where parents in Africa have AIDS), programmes are run to help strengthen them and keep them together.

My cycle ride around the world and subsequent talks have raised over £3,000 for SOS Children. I no longer run a fundraising page but please consider donating to the charity if you have enjoyed this site.

It is also possible to directly sponsor a child. By paying just £20 a month, you can cover the costs of the upbringing of a child in need. If you would like to do this, please follow the link to the SPONSOR A CHILD section of the SOS website. Please let me know if you do this on the Messages page, so I can keep track of how many people my bike ride has helped.

Thanks very much on behalf of SOS children.
